LaSalle College Vancouver and University of Northern British Columbia Announce New Academic Partnership

LaSalle College Vancouver is pleased to announce a new academic partnership with the University of Northern British Columbia, set to broaden academic pathways and enhance educational opportunities for students at both institutions.

Vancouver, BC – August 23, 2024 – LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV) is thrilled to announce a new academic partnership with the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). The partnership is set to broaden academic pathways and enhance educational opportunities for students at both institutions, by facilitating seamless transitions for students from LCV to UNBC and introducing innovative academic offerings in Vancouver.

“We are pleased to collaborate with UNBC, one of Canada's top research universities, to provide greater access to learning opportunities for students of both institutions,” says LCI Education Chief Learning Officer and Executive Vice President Dr. Jason Dewling, on behalf of LCV. “Both organizations are committed to providing access to further education. This partnership gives our students a pathway into UNBC programs, and it gives UNBC students access to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in the City of Vancouver.

Under the new pathway agreement, students who complete the Associate of Arts (AOA) degree at LaSalle College Vancouver and are admitted to the Bachelor of Commerce with a major in General Business at UNBC will be able to transfer all 60 credits directly into the third year of the Bachelor’s program. This collaboration will offer a seamless academic transition for students aiming to advance their studies after successfully completing the accelerated 18-month AOA degree program in Vancouver.

Additionally, this partnership between the two institutions will allow post-graduate students to pursue UNBC’s MBA program locally in Vancouver. Starting in the fall of 2024, LaSalle College Vancouver will proudly serve as the Vancouver location for the University of Northern British Columbia’s Executive MBA program. In a recent interview, Dr. Jamie Kemp, Chief Academic Officer at LaSalle College Vancouver, expressed her excitement about the new academic partnership, “we can’t wait to share our campus with UNBC’s MBA students. It’s exciting to think about the collaborative opportunities this will bring.” With LCV’s new creative campus set to open in early 2025, post-graduate students will soon be able to earn their MBA at British Columbia’s most state-of-the-art campus.

Kemp further elaborated, “LaSalle College Vancouver and UNBC are a great fit as partners. We share a common vision of providing quality education, fostering student success, and an emphasis on education for sustainable development. We know that graduates from our Associate of Arts program will feel “at home” in the third year of UNBC’s Bachelor of Commerce program. They’re accustomed to small class sizes and one-on-one attention from their instructors. Plus, we’ve structured our program in a way that ensures they’ll have the academic preparation they need to succeed in further study.

The new partnership between LaSalle College Vancouver and the University of Northern British Columbia is a significant step in expanding academic opportunities and reinforcing the value of collaborative educational efforts. This series of cross-institutional academic agreements are only the beginning of a broader collaboration between the two institutions.
