Vancouver Fashion Week S/S 2025 Recap

A Fashion Design Bachelor student, Sophia Glaubach is a textile innovator who spun her Argentine heritage into her collection, ReBirth. Working with mohair fibers and crochet techniques, Sophia’s whisper-white designs symbolized the struggle to break free from societal expectations, creating space for individuality and growth. Her web-like designs metaphorically wove narratives of self-discovery and sustainable fashion.
Fashion Design Diploma student Somaya Ahmadi paid homage to Afghan women with her collection Zanan-e-Azad (Free Women). Intricate embroidery and traditional Afghan textiles told a story of strength, resilience, and empowerment. Each piece carried a profound message, encouraging women worldwide to break barriers and embrace their authentic selves. Somaya’s artistry inspired conversations about freedom and cultural identity.
Bachelor student Anahita Heydari’s collection The Chrysalis explored the emotional journey of transformation. Inspired by personal experiences, her designs embodied the tension between past trauma and the promise of rebirth. Each garment reflected the delicate process of metamorphosis, encouraging wearers to embrace vulnerability and celebrate their newfound strength.
Inspired by Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and courage, Fashion Design Diploma student Taraneh Tadayon’s Divine Fusion merged classical elements with contemporary designs. Celebrating the journey of empowerment, each piece embodied the strength, wisdom, and grace of modern women. Taraneh’s attention to detail and craftsmanship created a collection that was both timeless and transformative.
Alumna Florence Duong captivated audiences with Dragon Lady, her collection inspired by the Chinese myth of the Dragon Gate. Using fish leather to symbolize transformation and resilience, Florence’s designs reflected women’s strength to overcome societal constraints and reclaim their destinies. Her sustainable and innovative approach earned her accolades like the Telio Impact Award and recognition at the Global Student Entrepreneurship Contest.
Bachelor student Sara Yasaei drew inspiration from Persian poet Hafez for her collection L’Allumeuse. Her designs explored the concept of inner power and allure, weaving narratives of confidence and charm. Sara’s garments were as poetic as their inspiration, embodying the energy and charisma of the modern allumeuse woman.
