Congratulations to Nazeem Junggee for Winning the RGD 2024 Student Award for Social Good Design!
LaSalle College Vancouver proudly congratulates Nazeem Junggee, a talented student in our Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design program, for his remarkable achievements at the 2024 Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD) Student Awards. Nazeem has not only won the prestigious Social Good Design Award but also earned honorable mentions in the Packaging Design (Series) and Brand Design categories.
"I applied the idea for the RGD awards in five different categories with three projects. One was for a project I did in advertising for ocean plastic awareness. The other one was a project I did with instructor Anne Ahmad in packaging design, and the third one was a web design project," Nazeem shared.
Award for Social Good Design
Project: The Gutting Truth: Ocean Plastic Pollution
This impactful advertising campaign highlights the urgent issue of ocean plastic pollution. Through striking visuals and compelling messaging, Nazeem raises awareness and inspires audiences to take action, advocating for cleaner oceans and a sustainable future.
Honourable Mentions for Placemaking Design, Brand Design, and Packaging Design
Project: At Eight – Bits, Brews & Bites
Supported by his instructor, Anne Ahmad Burnett, Nazeem developed an innovative packaging and branding design that merges aesthetics with functionality. At Eight is a fictional arcade bar and lounge located in downtown Vancouver, capturing the nostalgic essence of the golden era of retro video games.
Alongside its arcade experience, At Eight features a microbrewery crafting unique beer flavors. The project aimed to create a cohesive and memorable brand identity that resonates with a generation raised on pixels and joysticks. This work was recognized for its thoughtful approach to placemaking, engaging consumer branding, and creative packaging.
