Clarissa Long [she/her] is a jewellery artist whose home and art practice is based in Vancouver, British Columbia on Coast Salish Territory. Clarissa has been awarded as a finalist in competitions including the winner of the 2017 Niche Awards, and Western Living magazine’s Designer of the Year 2018. Clarissa exhibits regularly throughout North America. As an advocate for the contemporary jewellery community, she instructs in the Lasalle College Vancouver jewellery program, has managed a communal jewellery studio and scholarship bench, and served as Chair of Exhibitions for the Vancouver Metal Arts Association. She has curated multiple group exhibitions including The Maker’s Mark at the Burrard Arts Foundation and Disrupt at the Craft Council of British Columbia.

Clarissa’s art practice uses material exploration to examine the coexistence of the natural and mandmade landscapes that surround us. Using discarded, industrial waste and found materials, she seeks to challenge notions of perceived value and redesign the architecture of preciousness. As a mixed race artist, Clarissa is drawn towards the meeting of dualities - trying to capture the incorporeal space of the in between where two opposing points merge: when old meets new, how east meets west and where depareture meets arrival.
