Darren Waine graduated with a Diploma in Automated Systems Engineering and Technologies from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, AB. After graduation, he worked various jobs that ranged from circuit board manufacturing to AutoCAD building design and manual construction.

Following an injury that temporarily halted his career, Darren returned to school at The Art Institute of Vancouver. There, he obtained a Diploma in Visual Game Programming. Upon completion, he embarked on his professional journey with Electronic Arts, contributing to games such as EA Sports Active 2 and Fight Night Champion. He later transitioned to Kerberos Productions, where he played a vital role in the development of Sword of the Stars 2 and Sword of the Stars: Ground Pounders. Subsequently, Darren joined HotHead Games, where he worked on mobile titles such as Kill Shot Bravo and Super Hit Baseball. Currently, he enjoys his dream role as a Gameplay Programmer at Digital Extremes, where he contributes to the development of Warframe.

Beyond his professional endeavors and teaching, Darren can be found enjoying a game of volleyball and fulfilling his role as a dedicated and supportive father to his three children. Hailing from a small town in Alberta, he has delivered presentations to his hometown community on the gaming industry and how to pursue a career in this field.
