Dhanya
Dhanya is a passionate fashion design educator and sustainability advocate with nearly a decade of extensive experience in design education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Costume Design & Fashion and a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from Bharathiar University, where she was honored with the Best Designer Award for her graduation project. She also earned a Diploma in Fashion Clothing & Technology from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology, India.
Dhanya holds an Adobe Certified Professional badge in Graphic Design and Illustration, reflecting her advanced proficiency in industry-standard tools. She is currently exploring innovative ways to incorporate AI into fashion design modules, giving students hands-on experience with emerging technologies that are reshaping the industry.
In addition to her academic roles, Dhanya has worked as a freelance visual merchandiser and stylist in India, collaborating on diverse fashion projects that enhanced her industry perspective.Before joining LaSalle College Vancouver, Dhanya served as Vice Principal, Head of Department, and Design Mentor at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, where she spearheaded handloom initiatives, organized fashion shows, and helped pioneer South India’s first skytrain fashion show. Her teaching philosophy centers on fostering creativity, technical mastery, and sustainable design practices, empowering students to succeed in a rapidly evolving fashion landscape.
