Saeed Faraji - Associate of Arts Faculty

Saeed Faraji

Saeed Faraji received his M.Sc. and M.Sc. in physics from the University of Tehran and Sharif University of Technology, respectively. Later in 2000, he received his PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Ottawa in a multidisciplinary project concerning Neural Networks at the interface of physics, mathematics and computer science. His research was “To Develop Learning Algorithms for Restricted Neural Networks” using computational learning theory along with the theory of probabilities and statistics. Prior to that, he worked in several different fields of physics such as Optics, Astronomy and Condense Matters.

Later for a few years, he taught first year physics courses as well he worked as a research associate and at the University of Ottawa on statistical behavior in fiber optic communication systems. He developed several analytical and numerical models, based on statistical properties of noises and polarization effects, to optimize the performance of communication systems. He developed and debugged programs in Matlab and C++ for modeling communication systems in the Linux environment. He has published his work in several papers in and presented them in the international conferences.

He moved to BC from Ottawa in 2013 and has joined LaSalle College Vancouver (formerly The Art Institute of Vancouver) since 2014 as an Instructor in the VGP programs teaching Physics and Mathematics courses.
