Fashion Design Faculty

Stephanie Ostler is an entrepreneur and clothing designer with over two decades of experience, bringing her industry knowledge to her role as a sessional instructor at LaSalle College. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, business, and design, Stephanie is dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation in her students.

She holds a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Design from Emily Carr University of Art and Design (ECUAD), where she honed her skills and developed a deep interest in our relationships with textile objects.

Stephanie began her teaching journey in 2018, instructing at institutions such as Simon Fraser University (SFU) and ECUAD. Her practical, experience-based teaching approach integrates insights from her entrepreneurial ventures, fashion expertise, and academic background.

A seasoned public speaker, Stephanie delivered a thought-provoking TEDx talk in 2013 on the importance of cultivating ethical purchasing habits. Her commitment to environmentally conscious practices is also reflected in her business, Devil May Wear, which earned the “Best Local Designer Clothing Store” award for ten consecutive years across its three boutique locations.

In 2019, Stephanie was recognized with a Leo Award for her costume design work on the film Be Still.

She remains steadfast in her mission to inspire a new generation of socially conscious designers—encouraging innovation, responsibility, and an understanding of the transformative impact they can have in shaping a more sustainable future.
