Ziaul Hossain

Dr Ziaul Hossain is teaching mainly Web Site Development and User-Centered Design at LaSalle College, Vancouver.
He completed his undergraduate degree in Bangladesh in Computer Science. Later, he pursued postgraduate studies in the UK to receive his Master’s from the University of London, UK. He achieved his Doctorate degree from the University of Aberdeen, UK in 2015. After that Dr Ziaul Hossain was involved with teaching and research in several institutions in both
full-time and part-time roles. Currently, he is working full-time as an Assistant Professor at the University of the Fraser Valley, Abbotsford, British Columbia since 2022. Besides regular instructor roles of delivering lectures, developing materials, updating contents and proctoring, he is also involved in curriculum revision and development. He holds a chair position at the University of Fraser valley for ensuring Teaching Excellence in the programming courses.
As an instructor, Dr Ziaul Hossain has always been an advocate of hands-on practical learning where he encourages his students to build a solution or develop an end-product which can be showcased to potential employers. Dr Ziaul Hossain has mentored several students to participate in different competitions successfully and win awards. His teaching philosophy is centered around the student’s success in perceiving new and complex concepts. He has completed several workshops on developing pedagogical skills and making the classroom more effective using active-learning techniques. Dr Ziaul understands the importance of diversity and fosters a learning environment ensuring equality and inclusion. He also believes in indigenizing the curriculum to acknowledge and empathize with the indigenous communities across Canada.
Besides academia, Dr Hossain has been involved with a cloud-computing consultancy start-up since 2018. With his entrepreneurship skills, he has directed the company
to its success and has now converted into a major player in Bangladesh market. He also has intensive experience of managing their family-owned apparel manufacturing business for several years. During his early career, he was involved in web development and software product development.
