BC's First Dolby Atmos Studio in Education

LaSalle College Vancouver is the first educational institution in British Columbia to feature a Dolby Atmos studio — the same immersive audio format used by Netflix, Apple, Amazon Spatial Audio, and the world's leading music and film studios.

Students work in a full 7.2.4 speaker configuration with ProTools HDX, AVID MTRXStudio, and the Avid S1 Control Surface — producing spatial audio from day one of the program.

  • A person adjusts the controls on a rack of professional audio equipment, including preamplifiers and compressors, in a recording studio.

Industry-Grade Studios and Equipment From Day One

Our two professional recording studios are built around the tools the industry actually uses. Studio A features an SSL AWS 924 recording console and NEVE 1073OPX preamps on a DANTE network. Studio B is built around the Midas M32 digital console for live recording and multi-track production.

Every piece of equipment, from ATC monitors and Yamaha NS10s to outboard from API, Avalon, Universal Audio, and Sonic Farm, mirrors the professional studio infrastructure students will encounter in Vancouver and beyond.

  • A person with sleeve tattoos and a topknot hairstyle is playing a digital piano, with musical scores in the background.

Learn by Doing: Real Productions, Real Events

Recording Arts students don't just practise — they produce. From scoring and mixing music for the annual LaSalle College Vancouver Signature Fashion Show to producing audio for school video productions in collaboration with Film andAnimation students, every project comes with a real brief and a real audience.

Students are also exposed to guest sessions with working engineers, site visits to active Vancouver studios, and on-campus industry events — building the professional network and confidence that defines a working career in audio.
