Meet the Competitor
Dhefen Goh — WorldSkills Team Canada 2026
Dhefen Goh is a passionate emerging designer whose love for fashion goes far beyond aesthetics. She sees clothing as both a necessity and a vehicle for self-expression, and has set her sights on building fashion lines rooted in sustainability — a vision that stands in direct response to the industry's outsized environmental impact.
"I chose Fashion Technology because clothing is a necessity, and fashion is a constantly evolving industry. The artistic and technical opportunities are endless! I love that a garment is wearable and is a means of self-expression and storytelling. However, the fashion industry is the second largest polluting industry in the world due to the constant demand and overconsumption of clothing. So, my dream is to build my own fashion lines around sustainability." — Dhefen Goh, WorldSkills Team Canada 2026
Dhefen's journey into competitive skills began when her high school fashion teacher — a longtime volunteer with the Skills Canada National Competition — encouraged her to enter. Her success at the national level earned her the opportunity to represent Canada on the world stage.
"I've been successful at the Skills Canada National Competition but getting the chance to represent my country and contribute to the global community of skilled professionals is beyond exhilarating! At WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, I believe the competition's intense pressure will be my biggest challenge." — Dhefen Goh
Interesting fact: Outside the sewing studio, Dhefen is also working towards earning her private pilot's licence!
