LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV) is marking five years since its interior design programs were formally recognized by the Decorators & Designers Association of Canada (DDA). Since May 26, 2021, both the Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design and the Interior Design Diploma have appeared on the DDA's official list of recognized institutions—a designation confirming that each program meets the association's national standards for professional education in interior design.
What DDA Recognition Means for LCV Graduates
For graduates of LCV's interior design programs, DDA recognition provides a direct pathway to professional membership with the association. This credential supports practitioners working across residential, commercial, and hospitality design in Canada—and signals to employers that a graduate's education meets the profession's established benchmarks.
Five years of uninterrupted DDA recognition reflects the programs' continued alignment with industry expectations and their commitment to preparing graduates for professional practice.
"Five years of DDA recognition is a point of pride for our programs and for our graduates. It reflects a sustained commitment to the standards the profession expects—and a faculty that brings real practice into the studio every day," shared Sylvia van Rooyen, Program Director, Design, LaSalle College Vancouver.
About LCV's Interior Design Programs
LaSalle College Vancouver's interior design programs integrate studio practice, technical training, and professional application across residential and contract environments—with accelerated timelines that allow students to enter the profession faster than traditional four-year programs at other institutions.
The 18-month Interior Design Diploma builds foundational competencies in space planning, materials and finishes, building systems, and design documentation. The Bachelor of Applied Design in Interior Design, which can be completed in as little as three years, extends this foundation with advanced coursework in professional practice and applied design research—preparing graduates for leadership roles in the field.
