Describe a Typical Work Day:

Coordinate and ensure all my projects are on time and being executed.

What accomplishment(s) are you most proud of?

My biggest accomplishment this year was winning the BC’s Best Young Designer contest. It was a huge boost to my confidence and great exposure.

What are your creative inspirations or influences? Who are your heroes?

I take inspirations from all aspects of life including architecture, textiles, nature and various designed spaces. My biggest inspiration is by far, Phillipe Stark; his talent and portfolio of work is so diverse and eye catching. I hope to one day collaborate with him.

What do you enjoy the most about your career?

I really enjoy how creative I can be and see design come to life in a space. The reaction I receive from people who experience my designs is always very rewarding and fulfilling.

How did your education at LaSalle College Vancouver help prepare you for your career?

LaSalle College Vancouver was a great school to give you the tools you actually need to get out in the working world and become a designer. The courses were streamlined to really give you the knowledge and skills you need.

What advice do you have for people beginning their careers in your profession?

To get anywhere in the design field you must work hard and be patient. The right job will for sure come along. Get yourself out there by networking and attending design events. You never know who you will meet; allies in the design field are key for success.

Your profession is constantly evolving, from the technology you use to new career opportunities that didn’t exist five years ago. What trends do you see on the horizon that will affect how you do your job or your profession at-large?

The biggest change I personally feel will be the green technologies and the limitless possibilities of how spaces can be created. “The sky is the limit” will be more and more real as practices evolve over the coming years.
