What do you enjoy the most about your career?

Working with some of the best individuals within the industry, working with new technologies, the opportunity to have creative freedom and responsibility. Being able to wake up and go to a job I am very excited and passionate about.

How did your education at LaSalle College Vancouver help prepare you for your career?

LaSalle College Vancouver guided me in the right direction, and helped me build a network of friends. I picked up a lot of the fundamentals and built a strong foundation. Meaning getting comfortable with the software and picking up inspiration from instructors and peers.

What advice do you have for people beginning their careers in your profession?

Don’t take any job, take the ones that suit you best. Just be patient, build your network and develop your skills. Be the go-to person. Never stop learning, it should always be your passion, even if you do have your dream job. Communication is 90% of the job, so being able to communicate effectively with co-workers is a huge asset. Most of all enjoy it, you’re going into the best industry in the world.

Your profession is constantly evolving, from the technology you use to new career opportunities that didn’t exist five years ago. What trends do you see on the horizon that will affect how you do your job or your profession at-large?

As Technologies develop and become available, I see the ability to quickly adapt to new software, tools and troubleshooting issues that come up, a must have skill moving forward. Which I believe will spark the need of understanding other departments within the workplace. Also once video games eventually go digital and on a cloud, you will see less and less packaged games in stores. Next-gen hardware I believe will give artists, designers and programmers the breathing room and creative freedom to create vast realistic worlds that we could have ever dreamed of.
