Primary Responsibilities: I am accountable for collaborating with the Creative and Technical teams to meet and exceed the integrity of the quality, detail and execution of the Aritzia garments.

Describe a typical work day:

A typical day consists of partnering with Creative Design, Technical, Patternmaking, Production, Sourcing, and Applied Graphics throughout the day to ensure designs are clear and concise in the specs. It starts off with a hand-off of hand sketches from the designer and leads to pulling together with technical to come up with the best way to construct the garment, while making sure all trims/wash/graphics are perfected and approvable for the delivery deadlines.

What accomplishment(s) are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my work with denim. Fabric, wash, fit and all details that encompass denim products. I am glad my passion for this malleable fabric has become a focus in my fashion career which allows me to continue to expand my knowledge and capabilities with denim.

What are your creative inspirations or influences? Who are your heroes?

I get so inspired by people. I love people watching and seeing how other put themselves together. The simplicity or complexity of there day to day looks get me inspired. When it comes to who are my heroes its all those risk takers that are not afraid of showing there true colours through there creative media be it art/music/fashion.

What do you enjoy the most about your career?

I love begin involved in every step of the process even if it’s the smallest thing. But what I mostly love is the excitement of seeing our garments for the first time and how great they look.

How did your education at LaSalle College Vancouver help prepare you for your career?

I was able to make some connections with industry people while still in school. These connections were through finding apprenticeships and some through industry teachers. These connections lead me to the career I have today.

What advice do you have for people beginning their careers in your profession?

My advice is don’t ever give up and get as much experience as possible. Things don’t happen over night and the more experience you have the more you can bring to the table.

Your profession is constantly evolving, from the technology you use to new career opportunities that didn’t exist five years ago. What trends do you see on the horizon that will affect how you do your job or your profession at-large?

I’m actually excited to see what fabric innovations will be like in the next five years.
I feel with the rate that the fashion industry is going sustainable fabrics will most likely over shadow our traditional cottons and polyesters. Another that we use today and will definitely evolve further is computer software. ie. denim laser washings, pattern making and garment illustration.
