VANCOUVER, BC – November 5, 2026 – LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV) and Capilano University (CapU) have signed a tourism articulation agreement that establishes a direct credit transfer pathway for graduates of LCV’s Culinary Arts Grand Diploma and Hospitality & Restaurant Business Management Diploma into CapU’s Bachelor of Tourism Management degree.

The agreement creates a clear and supported route from college-level training to university education, expanding academic and career opportunities for students in British Columbia’s culinary, hospitality, and tourism sectors.

Under the terms of the agreement, graduates of the Culinary Arts Grand Diploma may transfer 30 credits toward the Tourism Management degree, while graduates of the Hospitality & Restaurant Business Management Diploma may transfer 51 credits. The agreement follows CapU's recent review of the programs in the Hospitality and Culinary School at LaSalle College Vancouver, finding alignment with the core requirements of the BC Tourism Learning System.

"This pathway gives our students a clear, supported route from hands- on training at LaSalle College Vancouver to a university degree at Capilano University," said Chef Julian Bond, Program Director, Hospitality and Culinary School, LaSalle College Vancouver. "The hospitality industry needs people who can cook, lead, and think strategically, and this partnership lets our graduates build all three. For students, it means their college credentials count toward something bigger, and for the industry, it means a stronger pipeline of well-rounded professionals."

“We are pleased to partner with LaSalle College Vancouver to create a pathway that recognizes students' previous learning and experience," said Vicki St. Pierre, Provost & Vice-President, Academic, Capilano University. "CapU's Bachelor of Tourism Management is known for its strong industry connections and work-integrated learning opportunities. This agreement gives students a clear route to build on their culinary and hospitality expertise and prepare for leadership careers in a growing sector.”

Beyond the benefits to individual students, the agreement strengthens the broader relationship between college-level training and university education in British Columbia’s tourism and hospitality sector. The pathway is built on programs that meet the core requirements of the BC Tourism Learning System, giving employers access to graduates who bring together practical culinary and hospitality skills with a solid foundation in tourism management. For students across the province, it offers another route to move from applied training into a degree program as their careers grow — supporting the sector’s ongoing need for professionals who can cook, lead, and think strategically.

The agreement is also notable for its scope. A single articulation agreement connects two distinct LCV diploma programs, one in culinary arts and one in hospitality and restaurant business management, to a university degree in tourism management through block credit transfer. Students from either program follow the same clear pathway from diploma to degree.

This unique tourism pathway begins at LaSalle College Vancouver’s brand-new Vancouver campus, where students learn in smaller classes and industry-grade kitchens designed for hands-on training. For students interested in transferring their credits to the degree, the Bachelor of Tourism Management is offered through CapU’s School of Tourism Management at its North Vancouver campus. Its curriculum emphasizes sustainability, community engagement, global consciousness and work-integrated learning, and students may choose electives to earn a concentration in hotel and resort management or adventure tourism.
