Chris Pettigrew - Media Arts Faculty

Chris Pettigrew

Chris studied Visual Effects at LaSalle College Vancouver, formerly The Art Institute of Vancouver, from where he graduated in 2006. After graduation, he immediately went into working in the industry, starting his career on the animated TV series ‘Storm Hawks.’

Shortly after that, Chris moved into Feature films with ‘Blades of Glory’, ‘Case 39’, and ‘Trick ‘R’ Treat.’ Chris’ career has taken him into all sorts of studios and pipelines. He has experience in both live action and fully CG Animated TV series, feature films (such a Thor, Transformers, and Tron Legacy), marketing, and games.

Chris also worked with real estate sales including developing CG environments and the set dressing of buildings before the buildings are even constructed. Chris’ experience has seen him have many roles including working on film sets, in studios as a Compositing Artist, Lead Paint, Roto Artist, Lead Render, Quality control Artist, Stereo Conversion Artist, 3D Modeler, and 3D animator. He also held the position of Creative Director and Editor on the Artbook ‘Design Works (Vol Book 1)’.

Chris has been a teacher for the past four years, while he continues his work as a Freelance Artist, utilizing his skills as a 3D generalist and compositor for companies all over the world. Most recently, Chris plans to expand his abilities to the next level and finish the plans he set out to accomplish when he graduated college.
