Colin Turner - Media Arts Faculty
Colin has been an instructor at LaSalle College Vancouver (formerly The Art Institute of Vancouver) since 2005 in the Media Arts Program. He graduated from Sheridan College, School of Art and Animation, in 2000 with a diploma in the three year Advanced Interpretive Illustration program. He has developed curricula in Perspective Drawing Class, Life Drawing, Concept & Illustration, Drawing and Character Drawing.
In addition to teaching, Colin enjoys collaboration with other faculty and staff to enchance curricula and teaching practices, as well as, mentoring students and new faculty. He continues to stay current with industry standards through professional work.
He is presently illustrating a graphic novel for Teach Magazine including: character designs that accurately represents descriptions, background and environment illustrations for a historically accurate period piece, illustrations for publication, accompanied by video interviews from historians, that tell a factual story and the creation of an online and interactive, teaching aid for students. He has worked with Wired: Toronto, Envision: Toronto, IRD1 Video Game Developers, as well as, a slide show animation in Niagara Falls.
In addition, he has created crime scene drawings that were created from information gathered at the scenes, combined with coroner reports. Thorough anatomical illustrations that aided in the presentation of expert testimony in a court of law. He worked with Samurai Studio Art & Design, a freelance creative innovator and solution provider, with clients such as Linamar Corporation, Ciccone Vineyards and Titan Glove, providing a broad range of services from art direction to design through client collaboration and focused upon understanding the needs of the client and unifying communication between identity and image solution.
