Library Services

Ryan Kyle has been a dedicated member of our organization since 2009. Starting as a part-time librarian, he has advanced to his current role as Director of Library Services. 

In this capacity, Ryan leads a team of two permanent staff members and several part-time student assistants. Together, they provide comprehensive library services, academic writing support, peer tutoring, and information literacy instruction. 

Ryan holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. 

He actively participates in several academic and interdepartmental committees, including the Library and Digital Resource Committee, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Committee, and the AI Taskforce. Through these roles, Ryan ensures that library services and collections align with institutional learning outcomes and support the teaching and learning needs of both faculty and students. 

Ryan is also a key contributor to interdepartmental projects and initiatives. Most recently, he has been collaborating closely with architects, technology specialists, external partners, and our Campus Director, on developing the new learning commons facilities. He looks forward to welcoming the campus community to this new open and accessible space designed for collaborative learning, creating, and socializing. 

Lucas Paganine is a Brazilian Library Technician with a Bachelor of Library Science from the University of Brasilia, supplemented by diplomas in web/software development and public management from Langara and UnyLeya. Lucas brings a diverse professional background in libraries, software development, hospitality and data analysis, which informs his approach with a user-centered, data-driven perspective.

He has authored a book chapter, several academic articles and other types of scientific publications on data repositories and metadata standards, contributing to best practices in digital information management for post-secondary institutions and other research organizations.

Since early 2023, he has worked at LaSalle College’s library front desk, supporting students with research needs, managing information resources, and maintaining welcoming, organized library spaces. Outside of work, Lucas enjoys tabletop gaming, video games, comics, and anime, interests that fuel his curiosity and creativity, both in and out of the library.

Mia Le is a professional writing coach with a unique interdisciplinary background that merges academic writing with creative art practices. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Critical and Cultural Practices from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Mia combines a rigorous understanding of writing theory with a deep appreciation for the visual and expressive arts. This dual expertise allows her to guide students in developing their writing skills with an eye for creativity, clarity, and criticality. 

Before joining LaSalle College Vancouver, Mia spent 3 years supporting writers across genres—from academic papers to short creative works to heavyweight manuscripts in writing workshops and tutoring sessions at Emily Carr University.  

Mia is currently the only staff member of the Writing Support program, which provides free writing support for students at all levels and from all writing backgrounds, through bookable one-on-one sessions, writing workshops, and online writing resources.
