And the winners are…

LaSalle College Vancouver was proud to sponsor the 2025 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, an evening dedicated to honouring the incredible talent shaping our city’s dynamic and ever-evolving culinary scene. With Vancouver consistently ranked among the top food cities in North America, the night served as a reminder of just how strong, and competitive, our local restaurant industry truly is.

Each year, Vancouver Magazine’s expert panel of food critics, chefs, and industry leaders evaluate nominees based on creativity, consistency, innovation, technique, and overall contribution to the culinary landscape. It’s not just about what’s on the plate, it’s about vision, leadership, and the ability to push boundaries in the kitchen and beyond.

This year, we were especially honoured to present the Pastry Chef of the Year award to the exceptional Kate Siegal, whose inventive approach and dedication to the craft have earned her a place among Vancouver’s most respected culinary talents. The award was presented by Mandy Vial, Faculty Lead of our Baking and Pastry program, making it a powerful passing of the torch from one culinary leader to another.

“It’s exciting to be part of a culinary city like Vancouver,” shared Chef Julian Bond, Head Chef and Program Director of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality program at LaSalle College Vancouver. “Events like these not only spotlight local talent but remind us why we’re passionate about educating and mentoring the next generation of chefs who will shape the future of food.”

At LaSalle College Vancouver, our Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry programs are designed to reflect the real-world demands of today’s restaurant scene. With hands-on instruction from industry professionals like Chef Julian Bond, students are equipped with the skills and creativity to thrive and maybe even find themselves on a future winners’ list!

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients.
