Shellee O’Leary - Interior Design Faculty
Shellee O’Leary is a registered interior designer who is devoted to all aspects of the design process. She has vast experience in both the business side and creative side of interior design. She completed her Bachelor Degree in Interior Design from Kwantlen Polytechnic University in 2003. She has been working as a professional registered interior designer for over 14 years. She is certified with the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, and is a professional member of the Institute of Interior Designers of British Columbia and the Interior Designers of Canada.
Shellee has practiced commercial interior design with Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning Limited since completing her education. After more than a decade of working in commercial interior design, managing large projects including corporate, hospitality, and healthcare design, she is still passionate about design and believes in the design process. She believes in a methodical and organized approach in all matters of interior design, with a focus on clear and logical design solutions to improve and enhance interior surroundings. She was inspired to work in interior design because she wanted to design something for people on a human scale; setting up space for people to move through and experience. Professional highlights include TransLink Corporate Offices, YVR Corporate Offices, Pacific Blue Cross Corporate Offices, Jim Pattison Outpatient Clinic in Surrey, BC, Hilltop House Care Home in Squamish, BC, Renal Health Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital, and Boston Pizza, nationally.
Shellee believes in a good design education, including conceptual design, with a focus on following through design to a detailed level with a solid working understanding of the entire design process from programming to completion. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and preparing her students for the exciting world of interior design.
